What is Art Mamas Alliance? We are a supportive, member-driven community for parents in the arts. Wherever you are in your journey, we are here for you. We are an online platform for open dialogue in support of Art Mamas Members. This is a safe space for honest conversations.

Why was Art Mamas Alliance founded? We didn’t realize how isolating being a parent could be—from the time of trying to start a family to the early postpartum period. When we had our children, we looked around and wondered, where are our people? We didn’t hear discussions of motherhood among our creative and professional peers. So we decided to change that. Art Mamas was born out of a need to connect and a conviction that parenthood should not be hidden. There is strength in our visibility.  See more here.

Who is Art Mamas Membership for? Art Mamas Membership is open to all who believe in the visibility of parenthood. We are here for everyone interested and open to supporting our community. You do not need to identify as a parent, or even someone interested in becoming a parent. 

How does Art Mamas connect with its community? We connect monthly via Zoom with Member Meetups, which are an informal check-in where we get to connect, share, and get to know one another. We have quarterly Focused Discussions range in topics ranging from fertility to feeding, co-parenting to homeschooling, infancy to college. We will also host in-person meetings at least twice a year. We believe in the power of stories shared and we invite Art Mamas Members to come as they are to participate however serves them best in the moment.

Do I have to share at the Monthly Meetups? No! While we celebrate the power of stories shared, we also believe that there is power in simply listening, showing up, and being present. 

What does an Art Mamas Membership Include? Access to monthly online Member Meetups and a private archive of previous recordings on focused topics. Complimentary admission and discounts to art fairs and events. Connection to a supportive network of over 250 artists and arts professionals. How do you choose partnership organizations for the annual Membership donation? In 2020, we donated 10 percent of Founding Memberships to Vote Mama. In 2021 we donated 10 percent of Memberships to Black Mamas Matter Alliance. Since 2022 we have donated 10 percent of Memberships to the Art Mamas Family Residency at STONELEAF RETREAT.

What is the BIPOC Art Mamas Member Fund? Art Mamas Alliance believes that diversity in representation is crucial to our mission. We are dedicated to growing our BIPOC-identifying members, through the BIPOC Art Mamas Member Fund, wherein memberships are allocated on an ongoing basis via nominations and need. We invite our Art Mamas Members to nominate BIPOC parents interested in joining Art Mamas Alliance. We want this group to reflect the rich diversity of our creative community, ensuring access, equity, and inclusivity. Members can send nominations to hello@artmamas.org
